Hurricane Igor is located 475 miles south of Bermuda, moving west northwest at 13 miles per hour with winds of near 110 miles per hour. Igor is a Category 2 storm. A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Bermuda. Tropical Storm conditions are expected in Bermuda this evening with Hurricane conditions expected by Sunday afternoon or evening. Igor is a very large storm and swells causing life-threatening surf and rip currents are expected on the East Coast throughout the weekend. Large swells will continue to effect the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and portions of the Bahamas throughout the next couple of days.
Tropical Storm Julia is located 1525 miles west southwest of the Azores, moving west northwest at 18 mph with winds of near 60 mph. There are no watches or warnings in effect. Julia’s path does not appear to impact land.
Vendor Changes –
• Royal Caribbean International said that with King's Wharf in Bermuda closed beginning Friday and not scheduled to reopen until Tuesday, the Enchantment of the Seas will go to the Bahamas instead.
• MSC Cruises said that the 2,550-passenger MSC Poesia, currently sailing across the Atlantic to New York from Europe, will head to Boston instead of Bermuda for a two-night stay starting on Saturday.
• Norwegian Spirit’s itinerary has changed. The ship will now sail to Orlando (Port Canaveral), Florida and Nassau, Bahamas. The ship will depart Boston today as scheduled at 4 p.m. and spend two days at sea before it arrives in Orlando on Monday, September 20 and then to Nassau on Tuesday, September 21.
