Hurricane Irene is located 70 miles south-southeast of Grand Turk Island and is traveling west-northwest at 10 miles per hour. Winds are at near 100 miles per hour, making Irene a Category Two storm. On the current projected path the center of Irene will pass to the north of the Dominican Republic and Haiti this morning, will be near the Turks and Caicos tonight, and near the Central Bahamas early tomorrow. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
Warnings and Watches:
Ø A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the north coast of the Dominican Republic, the Turks and Caicos Islands, and the central Bahamas.
Ø A Hurricane Watch is in effect for the north coast of Haiti and the northwestern Bahamas.
Ø A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the south coast of the Dominican Republic and all of Haiti.
Vendor Changes –
Carnival –
· Carnival Conquest, based in Galveston, Texas, will head to Mexico, visiting Costa Maya on Wednesday instead of Nassau, Bahamas; Cozumel on Thursday instead of Freeport, Bahamas; and Progresso on Friday, instead of Key West, Fla.
· Carnival Destiny, based in Miami, will visit Key West Tuesday, originally a day at sea. On Wednesday, it will call on Cozumel instead of Grand Turk, and on Thursday will visit Costa Maya instead of Half Moon Cay. Friday, originally planned for Nassau, will be a day at sea.
· Carnival Liberty, based in Miami, has altered its itinerary to visit Grand Turk today, originally a day at sea. Tuesday and Wednesday, planned for St. Thomas and San Juan, will instead be days at sea. Thursday it will call on Cozumel instead of Grand Turk.
· Carnival Miracle, which left New York Thursday, skipped San Juan Sunday, and spent the day at sea. Today, it will visit Grand Turk instead of St. Thomas, and Tuesday will call at Half Moon Cay instead of Grand Turk.
· Carnival Pride, based in Baltimore, will call at Port Canaveral, Fla., a day early on Tuesday, which was originally scheduled as a sea day. On Wednesday it will head to Freeport.
· Carnival Triumph, based in New Orleans, will skip Freeport, Bahamas, and spend Tuesday at sea. On Wednesday, it will visit Cozumel instead of Nassau, and Thursday will call on Progresso, when it had originally planned to be at sea.
· Carnival Victory, based in San Juan, cancelled its Monday call at St. Thomas and is proceeding to Barbados for its scheduled call on Wednesday. On Saturday, it will call on St. Thomas instead of St. Maarten.
Royal Caribbean –
· Oasis of the Seas will reverse its itinerary and now visit Cozumel, Mexico, first on Monday; stop at Falmouth, Jamaica, on Wednesday; stop at Labadee, Haiti, on Thursday; and return to Fort Lauderdale on Saturday. Freedom of the Seas will also reverse its itinerary and will visit Cozumel on Tuesday, followed by Grand Cayman on Wednesday, Falmouth on Thursday and Labadee on Friday.
· Allure of the Seas will now stop at Nassau, Bahamas, on Saturday instead of today. The rest of the itinerary remains unchanged.
· Serenade of the Seas will reverse its itinerary as well. It will visit Aruba on Tuesday, Curacao on Wednesday, St. Kitts on Friday and St. Thomas on Saturday.
